The City of Colusa Public Works Department provides engineering, construction, operation, and maintenance services to the City's infrastructure system of streets, sidewalks, curbs/gutters, street markings, traffic flow, and the storm drainage system. The Public Works Department manages these tasks through seven separate divisions:  City Streets, Storm Drainage, Solid Waste, Parks, Street Trees, Graffiti Abatement, and Water/Sewer.

A great many functions considered to be public works are incorporated and administered within the City of Colusa Public Works Department. The department is responsible for 37 miles of City streets, 7.5 miles of underground storm drains, 165 drain inlets, 1 sewer treatment facility, 5 lift stations, 2 above ground water tanks, 5 water wells, and 25 acres of parks. The department is able to perform its broad range of functions by having a dedicated and well-trained staff of 18 full-time employees.
